It’s time for the eating disorder treatment and recovery community to pull together; our strength in numbers can make a difference.
One in five women suffer from disordered eating. Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, yet shame, stigma, and lack of awareness lead to eating disorders being largely misunderstood. This can prevent individuals from receiving adequate care. Everyone suffers from eating disorders, men, women, children and adolescents. This is not “just a little girl’s disease.” Early intervention and prevention programs are virtually non-existent in Wisconsin leaving many people to receive help too little too late.
Support the World Wide Charter for Action on Eating Disorders as Wisconsin’s eating disorders treatment and recovery communities come together to bring this critical issue to Wisconsin for a briefing.
