Join Rogers Memorial Hospital in welcoming Jenni Schaefer, co-author of “Life without Ed” to this informal presentation held on the Marquette University campus.

When: 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, February 26th, 2009
Marquette University – Alumni Memorial Union Ballroom
1442 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee

While “Life Without Ed” was written specifically for the person who has an eating disorder, the book has proven to be just as helpful for family members and friends. The book takes loved ones into the mind of a person who has an eating disorder, so that they might get a glimpse of what it feels like to struggle with the illness.

“I have never been married, but I am happily divorced. Ed and I lived together for more than twenty years. He was abusive, controlling and never hesitated to tell me what he thought, how I was doing it wrong, and what I should be doing instead… Ed is not a high school sweetheart. Ed is not some creep that I started dating in college… Ed’s name comes from the initials E.D. — as in eating disorder. Ed is my eating disorder.”

–From the Introduction of Life Without Ed

Ms. Schaefer will sign copies of her book following the presentation; bring your own copy of the book for an autograph (books will be available for purchase of $17).

This event is sponsored by Rogers Memorial Hospital as part of a larger network of events coordinated by the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). The aim of NEDA Awareness Week is to raise awareness of eating disorders and of the impact of the cultural infatuation with impossible and sometimes deadly body images.
